Test log (from our notes)

What works

  • Chrome extension v1.1.9 installed from the Chrome Web Store with no sign-in
  • account or API key. Tested on a local 127.0.0.1 fixture. 1) Selected rude text in a textarea ('hey
  • u still didnt send the report. need it by eod or else were screwed lol')
  • style Be Polite: polite rewrite applied in place. 2) '//p' + same text + Tab in a contenteditable: polite rewrite applied in place. 3) Reply draft to a read-only message with intent 'yes, I can send the revised Q3 deck by Thursday end of day': polite reply
  • no invented name
  • copy pasted correctly. 4) Edge case, 1,001-char input: 'Text too long (max 1000 chars)' shown before any AI call
  • text untouched
  • run counter stayed 3/50. Evidence rerun (4th run
  • counter 4/50): same input, Be Polite via the selection toolbar, Result panel shown then Apply wrote the rewrite into the textarea (screenshots sendready-2026-10-18-rewrite.png and -applied.png).

What breaks

  • 1) Reply draft added an unrequested clause ('so you have ample time...'). 2) Install prompt asks for 'Read and change all your data on all websites' and clipboard modification
  • contradicting the 'Minimal permissions' claim. 3) Landing page presets ('Polish', 'Translate //en') differ from shipped presets ('Be Polite', 'Translate to Japanese //ja'). 4) Store says it 'will not collect or use your data' while the privacy policy says a device ID and IP are used for rate limits. 5) Linked GitHub repo github.com/ramune441/sendready-chrome returns 404. 6) On the evidence rerun the same input came back wrapped as a letter with placeholders ('Dear [Name], ... Thank you, [Your Name]')
  • so output format varies run to run and can insert bracket placeholders an agent must strip.

Release claims checked

  • verified No account, no sign-up, no API key (CWS listing; 3 AI runs completed with none (a random device ID is sent with each run))
  • verified Up to 1,000 characters per run (1,001-char input rejected before AI call)
  • unverified 50 AI runs per day (CWS listing; popup showed 3/50, cap not reached)
  • unverified Only selected text is sent (Consistent with shipped code; no network capture)
  • still_broken Minimal permissions (CWS install dialog: 'Read and change all your data on all websites', 'Modify data you copy and paste')
  • unverified Will not collect or use your data (CWS privacy block vs privacy policy mentioning device ID and IP for limits)
  • verified //p trigger, reply draft, 11 languages (T2, T3 and CWS listing)

Quality score

3/5 — our subjective hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale.

Rescored 4 to 3 under the new briefing rubric: the docs mislead an agent. The landing page documents presets 'Polish' and 'Translate //en', but the shipped build has 'Be Polite' and 'Translate to Japanese //ja', and it claims 'Minimal permissions' while asking for all-sites read/change access. Every tested core task passed.
